Visiting LaPorte

It's no secret that cities are always looking for ways to save money, and LaPorte is no different.  LaPorte used Energy Efficiency & Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) funding administered through our office to upgrade lighting systems at their waste water treatment plant, civic auditorium, street department, and water department.  The waste water treatment plant was also upgraded with a gate upstream of the nitrification pumps to control surges, and four pumps were replaced with 60hp submersible pumps with quick disconnects.

And the good news for the taxpayer is -- at least $10,000 has been saved so far.

The City of LaPorte received EECBG funds in 2010.  EECBG was funded through the U.S. Department of Energy and the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA) and administered through the Indiana Office of Energy Development (OED).
