The Town of Albion is (Efficiently) Hot and Cold!

Back in August, Megan, one of our program managers, visited Albion, one of our EECBG recipients.  Here's her review of the visit --

-----------

I was excited to have a site visit in Albion because I’ve never been to that part of the State. Aside from the lengthy drive and road construction along the way, it was a great visit!

Albion received $126,203.00 in EECBG funding to replace furnaces and A/C units with more efficient equipment – hence the title! The Town Hall, the Council Meeting Room, the Fire Department, the Police Department and the Water Plant were the chosen facilities in Albion to become more energy efficient. Along with more efficient heating and cooling units, all of these facilities also had programmable thermostats installed, which will further help the Town keep an eye on its energy usage.

So far they’ve seen an energy savings of 8,155.94 MMBTU in natural gas. I’m sure this summer really put the A/C units to the test!

Albion was a 2010 recipient of Energy Efficiency & Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) dollars, an American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA) program offered through the U.S. Department of Energy and administered by the Indiana Office of Energy Development.
